Medical history

  • Fell from a truck and landed on the hitch, sustaining acute soft tissue injuries to left chest and abdomen
  • Initial defect developed into an NSTI with full-thickness ulceration to thoracic wall

Case details

  • Previous treatment: Multiple surgical debridements, and antibiotics. Transferred to trauma centre for further surgery

Week 0 - Myriad™ Application

  • Post debridement, application of two Myriad Matrix devices (10 cm x 20 cm, 3-layer), trimmed to size to fit the entire defect, including areas of undermining​
  • Secondary dressing: NPWT at 125 mmHg

Day 6

  • Development of well vascularized tissue peripherally​
  • Residual Myriad noted, kept intact and hydrated​
  • No sign of infection or complications​
  • Continue NPWT dressing

Day 11

  • Further integration of Myriad and formation of vascularized granulation tissue
  • No complications

Day 15

  • Nearly complete integration of Myriad
  • Reduced depth
  • Vascularized granulation tissue noted
  • No complications

Day 36

  • Significant depth reduction
  • No complications
  • Plan to close via STSG

Day 57

  • Depth eradicated
  • No complications
  • Subsequent procedure (not shown), STSG applied, with ~75% take at one week

Week 16

  • Full take and epithelialization of STSG
  • No complications
