Case details

  • Description: Full thickness wound with parotid fistula
  • Etiology: gunshot wound
  • Initial procedure: Embolization of facial artery branches and parotid leak

Morcells application (Week 0)

  • Applied Myriad Morcells (500 mg) on hospital day 7, hydrated in situ with sterile saline
  • Secondary dressing: contact layer and dry sterile dressing

Day 3

  • Pain well-controlled
  • No complications
  • Secondary dressing: Gauze and Tegaderm®

Day 7

  • Morcells well adhered, 80% integrated
  • Significant granulation tissue noted
  • Improved depth
  • No complications
  • Maintain secondary dressing regiment

Day 10

  • Morcells 90% integrated
  • Granulation tissue filling in depth of wound
  • No complications

Day 40

  • 90% epithelialized
  • No complications

Day 45

  • Epithelialized, depth filled.
  • Parotid fistula resolved without further surgical intervention
  • No complications

7 months

  • Excellent skin pigmentation, pliability
  • Return of hair growth noted
  • No complications

8 Months
